Zada Lipman and Robert Stokes (2011)

In recent times, the coastal management framework in NSW has taken a few turns.  The attached article provides an overview and critique of changes to the Coastal Protection Act 1979 and the Local Government Act 1993 and offers some suggestions to replace the current framework with a more integrated, sustainable coastal planning system.

The paper expands and builds upon the Australian Coastal Society’s stated policy position put to the major political parties immediately prior to the NSW State election in March this year.

The article has been extracted from the Environmental Planning Law Journal (28 EPLJ 182).
