The NSW Department of Planning has released a new planning note (PS 11-001) describing amendments to s149 planning certificates, particularly as they relate to information on coastal issues affecting the land.  The purpose of this circular is to advise coastal councils, property owners and the community about changes to the Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2000 requiring coastal councils to include certain coastal matters in section 149 certificates.  For example this may allow information on emergency coastal protection works, related fees and charges, coastal risks and sea level rise to be placed on planning certificates to notify landowners, prospective purchasers and other interested parties.
