ACS Memberships for 2012 now due

We welcome your continued support of the Australian Coastal Society.

This year we have tried to make the Membership renewal process easier for you!

It is now possible to join and renew your ACS membership by paying through paypal online:  http://australiancoastalsociety.org/membership.

If the online method of renewal is not suitable for you, then please go to the membership site and complete the renewal process as you have in previous years via a hardcopy form:
http://australiancoastalsociety.org/membership.

A message from the Chair:

ACS is entering a new phase in its growth with the establishment of state chapters. This will enable members in each state to become more actively engaged in issues of local and regional significance as well as assist ACS in presentations to governments on coastal policies. This is often a contentious subject and requires members to provide their views so that we can learn from each other as to what the ACS position should best reflect.

I would also encourage members to use the ACS web site by posting information that may be relevant to others.  ACS offers several ways to communicate (including an on-line discussion forum, Facebook and Twitter) and we are very grateful to all those who offer their time to assist in this way.

Please encourage others to join ACS and be active as members.

Bruce Thom , Chair ACS

New resource online – Coastal Research Webportal

The Coastal Research Webportal  is a free resource developed for local councils and researchers to:

  • access current and previous research projects,
  • find related publications, and
  • links to a range of available data and metadata.

Have a look around, it’s easy and the Google maps interface allows exploration of research at local, regional and national scales.

If you’re working in coastal research, adding your research to the webportal will expand the knowledge and information available to coastal councils.
